The Laver Cup, an invitation to global cities

Based on our track record of working with potential host cities to win the honour of hosting events, it was refreshing to work with a rights-holder, bringing our skills to bear for the ‘other’ side! The evolution of major event bidding was evidenced here, from examination and test, to invitation and consultation. The IOC heralded the change back in 2014 with the adoption of their Agenda 2020 Strategy, to encourage and support cities through a process that has become more nuanced and less black and white / win or lose than it was in the past. Principles that are now widely adopted by other rights-holders across the sporting landscape. We were responsible for the design of The Laver Cup’s Hosting Guide, providing potential host cities with clear and coherent instructions with regards to mutual benefits, expectations and specific requirements. In addition to maintaining high quality design standards throughout, our focus was on the management and synthesis of what was very fluid content, turning around alterations in a timely and efficient manner, working towards ‘no fail’ deadlines and making the whole experience as efficient, accurate and pain free as possible for our client team.

“Bernie and the team offered an excellent design service. Helping us work to a challenging time-line by following the brief, pro-actively responding to comments and quickly redrafting documents. Their friendly and professional approach made what could have been a challenging process very easy. We are grateful to Bernie for his contribution to a high-quality hosting guide and very much look forward to working with him again.”
