Liverpool 2022 FIG Artistic Gymnastics
World Championships Bid

Another winning bid brand, this time resulting in Liverpool being awarded the 2022 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. In addition to creating the bid campaign strategy and identity, we designed and delivered all of the bid collateral required throughout the process, climaxing with the presentations to the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) at their Council meeting in Istanbul in April. Once again, our success was based on team work and collaboration with our client partners; British Gymnastics, Liverpool City Council and UK Sport.

Our brand marque is based on a contemporary depiction of one of the two ‘Liver Birds’ that sit on top of the Liver Building, located on the City’s world-famous waterfront. According to popular legend, the pair are male and female, the female looking out to sea, watching for the seamen to return safely home, and the male looking in to the city, watching over the seamens’ families. Local legend also holds that the birds face away from each other as, if were they to mate and fly away, the city would cease to exist.
